Act 2:1 When the day of Pentecost arrived, they were all together in one place.

Speaking in tongues is an integral part of the believer’s devotional prayer life, for as the Apostle Paul said,
1Co 14:18 I thank God that I speak in tongues more than all of you.
The baptism in the Holy Spirit is for all those who believe (Acts 2:38–39); therefore, speaking in tongues as an evidence of the Spirit’s infilling is also for all those who believe.
Act 2:38 And Peter said to them, “Repent and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins, and you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.
Act 2:39 For the promise is for you and for your children and for all who are far off, everyone whom the Lord our God calls to himself.”
Act 2:4 And they were all filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak in other tongues as the Spirit gave them utterance.
“He that speaketh in an unknown tongue edifteth himself . . .” (1 Cor. 14:4). The word “edifieth” means to build up.

Praying in Tongues Gives You Supernatural Understanding of God’s Mysteries
“For he who speaks in a ‘tongue’ addresses God, not man; no one understands him; he is talking of divine secrets in the Spirit”
“For he who speaks in a tongue does not speak to men but to God, for no one understands him; however, in the spirit he speaks mysteries” (1 Cor. 14:2, NKJV).
Praying in Tongues Grants You Access to Other Revelatory Gifts of the Holy Spirit
Praying in tongues actually unlocks other revelatory gifts of the Holy Spirit in your life, namely the word of wisdom, word of knowledge, prophecy and discerning of spirits. Remember, you are not praying on a natural dimension, but rather engaging on a Supernatural Spiritual Dimension.
When Praying in Tongues, You Are Speaking Directly to God
“For he who speaks in a tongue does not speak to men but to God, for no one understands him; however, in the spirit he speaks mysteries” (1 Cor. 14:2, NKJV).
Praying in Tongues keeps us talking directly to God, praying in agreement with His perfect will.
